A Car Voice Over
One of the most interesting projects I have worked on happened when I was approached to be the voice of the Mini. To clarify… the actual voice of the car.
The project was to engage US based dealership staff in training and increasing their knowledge of the new Mini model. This was achieved creatively by a company called Automätik who came up with the idea of combining a road trip with an Ipad app. The staff took off in groups on a mystery tour with the new Mini. As the voice of the Mini on the app, my voice over was used to talk about different features of the car at different points on the journey. They would follow a route, and the content was triggered via gps tracking.
Mini
The Mini is a British Icon first manufactured in 1959. Production faded in the 80s, but in 1994, BMW took control of the Rover Group, which included the Mini. By 2000, BMW had a shiny new Mini Hatchback which was to bring about a rebirth of the car.
Automätik clearly wanted to engage a British voiceover artist as the voice of this iconic brand. It was also important to find a voice that was friendly and conversational with personality to take on the character voice of the Mini.
